If your child is experiencing difficulties with mathematics, it's important to know that you're not alone and there are effective ways to support their learning journey.
Dyscalculia is a learning difference that can make it harder for someone to understand and work with numbers, turning everyday tasks like counting, measuring, and solving simple problems into real challenges.
In the UK, research suggests that around 5–7% of people experience dyscalculia, making it as common as other well-known difficulties like dyslexia. What's interesting is that many individuals with dyscalculia show average or even above-average abilities in other areas, even though they might find numerical concepts tricky. It’s also important to note that dyscalculia often appears alongside conditions such as dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), which can add extra layers to the learning experience.
With the right support and understanding, however, those with dyscalculia can develop strategies that help them overcome these challenges and succeed both academically and in everyday life.
During the assessment process, a range of standardised tests, detailed observations, and in-depth interviews are used to identify specific difficulties in numerical processing.
Full diagnostic assessment for dyscalculia is £550
