Objectives

Identifying Risks
We understand that risks can arise in various teaching and assessment settings. We actively work to identify and mitigate these risks, which may include:
- Inappropriate interactions during one-on-one tuition sessions.
- Risks of neglect or abuse identified during assessments or tutoring.
- Online safety concerns during virtual tuition or assessments.
- Privacy and confidentiality issues when handling sensitive assessment data.
- All tutors and assessors are trained to recognise signs of abuse or neglect, including:
- Unexplained injuries or changes in behaviour.
- Sudden changes in academic performance.
- Disclosure of concerning information by the child.
Safeguarding Procedures
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, the following procedures are in place:
DBS Checks:
- All staff, tutors, and assessors are required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before beginning work with children.
One-on-One Tuition Safeguards:
- Sessions are conducted in open, observable environments whenever possible.
- Parental consent is obtained before beginning individual tuition.
Small Group Tuition Safeguards:
- Group sizes are kept small to ensure adequate supervision.
- A register is maintained to track attendance and any incidents.
Dyscalculia Assessment Safeguards:
- Assessments are conducted in safe, private spaces with parental consent.
- All assessment data is kept confidential and securely stored.
Online Safety Measures:
- For online tuition or assessments, secure platforms are used to protect privacy.
- Tutors follow strict protocols to ensure online safety.
Reporting Concerns:
- Any concerns about a child's welfare are reported to the designated safeguarding lead immediately.
- If necessary, appropriate authorities will be contacted, following legal obligations.
Code of Conduct
All staff, tutors, and assessors are required to:
- Act professionally and respectfully at all times.
